March 11, 2006 Selma Village, Illinois. A tornado touched down along Interstate 55 then continued into a subdivision, destroying several houses and knocking down power transmission towers before crossing the Mississippi River and one person was injured.

May 30, 2004 The Bates Mississippi highway department reported trees down along INTERSTATE 55 near the Tate County and Panola County border.

October 2, 2006 In Shorewood, Illinois trees were reported down at INTERSTATE 55 and route 53. Trees and fences were torn down at Essington an Theodore in Joliet. And don't adjust that dial because house antennas were blown off homes.
